Comment: I know what you mean. I never got to know my mom’s mom, because she died of a stroke 8 months before I was born. My grandfathers were my best friends. They’d let me do anything and they taught me a lot. I’m without both of them now and one bad days I miss being able to run to them and talking to them. I never would get into what was bothering me, but just talking to them about anything would always make everything seem better.

88 miles per hour

If I could go back in time or into the future, well, I don’t really know if I would change anything.  Everything happens for a reason.  I do have a few regrets, but had it not been for every event in my life, I would not be where I am today.  But for this assignment, I will choose a date and time to go back to.  If I had a DeLorean and the help of a dude named Doc Emmitt Brown, I would go back to 1736, when Georgia was first founded  in Savannah by Gen. James Oglethorpe.  I would stake the land that is already owned present day by my family, but I would also try to get one of my family in the government system so that my family name would be more famous than what it already it is.  I wouldn’t worry about the changes, because my family would be more well-respected.  So build me a Delorean and give me a straight stretch of road to get up to 88 mph.

Comment: I know how it feels to not get anything on Valentine’s Day. I believe it’s more of a holiday for women to feel special, but us guys would like to have someone to share the holiday with as well. I see what you are getting at with you’re advertisements. The more you get your company’s name out and about, the more likely you are to attract anyone on the street or anywhere else for that matter.

I love the idea of having a raffle. a lot of people will come to your business just to have a chance at winning something when they purchase what they were going to purchase from any other company (such as the teddy bears, greeting cards, balloons, roses.)

Valentine’s Week blog

I have never gotten anything that I didn’t like for Valentine’s Day.  For me, the only thing I have ever gotten on Valentine’s Day is  candy from my mom.  Growing up as kids, my brother and I would always get some kind of candy, whether is was conversation hearts, Hershey Kisses, Reese’s Cups or  special Valentine’s marshmellows, from our mom.  Our dad would get her flowers, but we never gave her anything.  This week I bought my girl friend a necklace (didn’t cost much), but I didn’t get my mom anything.  On Valentine’s Day morning, I got a text from my mom thanking me for the roses she got.  I texted my dad to ask did he put my name on them and he replied, “Yea don’t tell her otherwise.”  I didn’t care it was just a shock to me.

If I worked for a greeting card company, I would try to make sex sell.  During the Super Bowl, there was an ad for some florist that showed a hot woman in the commercial.  Nobody knew what the commercial was for until the end when it showed roses and the florist’s name.  Many guys put on Twitter and Facebook that they wanted to buy some flowers now.  I may be wrong, but I see more guys buying Valentine’s Day cards than women.  Hopefully doing the same as the florist in the Super Bowl ad, I can persuade the audience to buy from me by having a hot model holding some of my greeting cards in a public commercial.

Title: If You Do Any of These, You Probably Annoy Me Sometimes

Comment: I agree with you on most of these. Though on the money spending part I would probably annoy you. I don’t come from much, but I have never gone without. I like bragging about a deal I got or how much I spent to get something nice. Kinda like a winning the lottery for me. And 90 percent of the time its on how much I could have spent, but didn’t. For a friend of mine got a sound system in his truck and paid over $1400 to the people who put it in. 4 months earlier I put a sound system in my car by myself as well as a little help from another friend of mine. I spent just less than $200 and I brag about my very cheap, but great sounding system. Hope that doesn’t annoy you haha

Title: Everyone has them. Some are minor, while others seem to drive you over the edge. What are they? Pet peeves. Those things that annoy us. What annoys you and why?

Comment: I do get what you’re saying. Being a guy, seeing a thong hanging out says hey there’s a good shot at being lucky tonight (just a bit of humor). And before you assume I’m one of those guys let me say this, those are the girls that us guys don’t want to take home to mom. Having a thong hang out is like having a tattoo in taboo areas, not attractive at all. It just tells guys like me ‘well what do you have?’ (and not in a good sense). I always try to keep my pants up and at times I have even used a rope for a belt. But the car horn is something I rarely ever hear blown at me and when I do hear one I’m already ignoring it. I’m also like you on the whole manners thing. Sometimes I want to look at people and tell them they need to act with the sense that God gave them. Hope, I didn’t offend anyone with the beginning of this comment

Pet Peeve

Before reading on, I apologize for this may seem, but is not a rant.  Right now the only pet peeve I have is women.  Yes, the angels that us guys fall for.  This is the second straight year that whoever I have been dating has broken up with me within a week of Valentine’s Day.  I told one friend this morning that maybe it’ll happen again next year and I’ll have the trifecta (sarcastically speaking of course).  I am in pain and trying to figure out what I have done to have this happen to me as I always do, but that’s besides the point.  The point is women only let the good guys win 1 percent of the time and I happen to be in the 99 percent.  I always end up feeling like I’m not good enough thus making me try to be better, but that doesn’t work when I keep getting things thrown at me out of nowhere.  I invest everything I have in a relationship when it comes to being with someone, because I’m not looking for a fling.  I know I’m just 21 with some life left before me, but I also know when I get where I’m going I’m not the only one there to enjoy it all.  Woo, off track again.  Anyway, I’m tired of the women that set us good guys up to fall/fail.  The lies, the broken promises, getting chewed out for something she did, it all adds up to wasted time and as Josh Turner sings in his new song, “time is love”.  I know I’m not the best guy in the world.  There are a lot of ladies I’m not good enough for, but I at least don’t want to keep losing what I also confide to be a best friend in a girlfriend. That’s my pet peeve that’s on my mind right now.  Like I said before, I apologize for this seeming like a rant and I am not trying to offend anyone, because I know their are very sweet and nice ladies out there.  I just don’t happen to find them.  As Charlie Harper (played by Charlie Sheen) said on Two and a Half Men, “I sure do know how to pick ‘em.”

Post Title: Film vs. Book: Which would you prefer?

Comment:  I never liked reading, so I am also hands down for movies though I am not a Harry Potter or Twilight fan. I have to get into a book as well. I think the last book I read for fun was by Jimmy Buffett. Having a Kindle Fire could be helpful in getting you to read more if you don’t play games or watch ESPN3 on it like I probably would.

Post Title:  Which was better? The movie or the book

Comment: This sounds like my excuses of why I don’t like reading. Though I don’t see myself joining a book club, I would like to read the book ‘Forrest Gump.’ I have been told that the movie is way better than the book, but I really would like to find out for myself. The movie was great and I am a “shrimpin’ boat captain, Lt. Dan.”

Book vs. Movie

There are some books that have later become movies, such as the Harry Potter series, Forrest Gump, and Holes.  For me, I rather watch the movie then read the book.  I have never liked reading books and if I don’t have to I don’t period.  I also never got into the Harry Potter themed stuff.  I have always been a sports fanatic.  I have always liked baseball, but have found myself watching the HBO documentary on Vince Lombardi, the head coach for the Green Bay Packers back in the 1960s leading them to many world championships.  By what I have heard from many people, usually the book is better than the movie, but I have been told that the one movie that surpasses the book is Forrest Gump.  I honestly still prefer to watch the movie just so I don’t have to read a book.

Blog: My Bucket List

Comment: I too had never created a bucket list until now. I have never traveled out of the states, but I wouldn’t mind going somewhere out of the country sometime. Having a family is a good thing on a bucket list. I want to be able to give my children all of the opportunities and joys I was given in my life. I also want to be able to help my parents out. They are the main reason I’m at college, so that one day I’ll be able to take care of them when that day comes. Overall, your bucket list is a very thoughtful and caring on your be half and you should be proud of that.

Comment: I thought I would be scared of flying when I first began traveling by air, but after the plane got off the ground the first time I was fine. If flying just really isn’t your thing, then you can always go by boat and take a cruise to most any destination and rent a car the rest of the way. Many of the items you listed on your list are closely related to mine. I too want the family, and to travel some, and I want to get my scuba license.

My Bucket List

Many people have a bucket list as of right now.  I do not.  So, I got to thinking that I should probably make one since not many people say I’ll make it to be 22 years old.  Remember, I am listing these as they come to my head.  One would be that I want to own my own yacht.  I have always been fascinated by the water and boats all my life.  What can I say I’m an island boy raised off the Salty Georgia coast.  Another would be that I want to race in one NASCAR race.  I am always about power and speed.  I love racing my car in the backwoods back home showing the boys and sometimes girls what a beat up car with a V-8 can do when I’m behind the wheel.  And the last thing to come to my mind that I want to do is to be able to retire back home to where I was raised my whole life.  Letting my kids and grandchildren enjoy the slower life and the wide open space.  I want to be able to go home and be able to get behind the wheel on my family’s shrimp boat.  The shrimping industry is dying, but I want to be able to keep the family tradition going that is nearing a century long.
